A Blonde's Guide to Reality TV: Keeping Up With the Kardashians
Fellow Blondes,
After having successfully conquered grooming, shopping and flirting, it is time for us to master a new concept. This week we will be learning about Reality Television! A lot of us may have already starred on Reality Television, and some of us may even be able to spell Reality Television. For those bombshells who have no concept of this notion whatsoever, I will enlighten you. The be all and end all of Reality Television is:
Keeping Up With the Kardashians
Keeping Up With the Kardashians is a hysterical reality television programme, broadcast on E! Entertainment channel, which focuses on the chaotic family life of the Kardashian siblings. One half of the Kardashian family are the children of socialite and manageress Kris Jenner and lawyer Robert Kardashian, who came to feature in the public eye as a result of the O.J Simpson trial. These are, most famously, entrepreneur and model Kim Kardashian, new wife of Lamar Odom- of the Los Angeles Lakers fame- Khloe Kardashian, eldest girl and new mother Kourtney Kardashian, and ex-boyfriend of Cheetah Girl Adrienne Golding, Robert Kardashian. When Robert and Kris divorced, Kris remarried Bruce Jenner, Olympic athlete and father to The Hills eye candy Brody Jenner. These two then had two girls, Kendall Jenner–who has recently been signed to world renowned modelling agency, Wilhelmina- and Kylie Jenner, a budding actress.
With so many Z-list celebrities seeming to land themselves these fantastic opportunities on reality programmes, it seems that reality television is, so often, dismissed these days. The Kardashians, however, bring a warm and funny insight to family life that would in no way be portrayed so accurately were it to be expressed in any other form. The show enables us to see two such contradicting worlds of this family living in the Hollywood hills; one of which is a hard-working and passionately motivated family that are incredibly business oriented and lead such glamorous lives of photo shoots and caviar, and the other of a normal large family, fighting over the remote control, playing pranks on one another and sharing copious arguments and love. It seems even funnier to have a celebrity slant on the family; the likes of Khloe and Kourtney will tease Kim for being a diva or googling herself, Robert used to laugh at the fact that his girlfriend was a Cheetah Girl.
A crazy sense of humour has consumed each member of the family, causing for an amusing watch, but there are also times so touching about the closeness and sensitivity of the family, particularly when they reflect upon the tragic and sudden death of father Robert Kardashian. All in all they are so watchable because they set such brilliant examples to the viewer: the importance of family, the importance of a sense of humour, the amazing benefits and rewards of hard work. I urge that if you haven’t seen this programme yet, you take a peek at the funniest family in Hollywood and embark upon family life with them.
