Review: Halo Legends
Ah the Halo franchise, a universe where the storylines get larger and more diverse with every waking minute. Most other franchise's would've been well and truly killed off by corporate types by now (See: Star Wars Prequel Trilogy; Highlander; Games that have been adapted to film), yet Halo still manages to entice me into frequenting myself into the canon and very rarely making me feel bored.
Halo Legends doesnt make me bored at all. In fact I quite enjoyed watching it. However I'm getting to far along in the reviewing process too early, let me explain what Halo Legends actually is, it's anime, pure and simple, following on the basic idea of 'The Animatrix' or 'Batman: Gotham Knight' Halo Legends is 7 different stories made by different anime studios and all collected together on one disk.
The idea of it was to fill in some of the gaps of goings on that aren't covered in the games or the novels (similar to the stort story collection 'Halo: Evolutions', with each story being roughly 15 minutes in length. Nice little bite sized chunks for all the Halo fans out there.
Now going back to where I was earlier, I really enjoyed watching Halo Legends, the stories, however short, were compelling and well written, and while not answering any major questions brought up and not answered in the games/novels it gives a nice little insight into the lesser important aspects of the Halo universe. A must for any hardcore fan, however if you've never had any association with the series so far I would recommend staying away, there are numerous references to actions that are a relativley large part of the main series and are likley to confuse.
also I would not recomend preordering stuff from Amazon. Halo Legends came out on Monday and only arrived today ¬_¬
