SOS Protest Today at 1pm
Students will assemble in protest today in support of the Save Our Subjects campaign. The protest will begin at 1pm in the Guild Courtyard, moving to the Victoria Buildings shortly afterwards. It is hoped that the action will demonstrate to the University Senate, who meet today to ratify the departmental closure proposals, that the students and staff of Liverpool University will not tolerate the ‘unacceptable loss’ of up to eight of its departments.
SOS campaign team member and second-year Politics student Paul Athans said: ‘We urge as many people as possible to come and show their support in our protest today. As students may, or may not know, a total of eight departments are now cited for possible closure. We need students, staff and supporters from all aspects of the University and beyond to come along today to help us show that we are a united campaign"
Support for the SOS campaign has been overwhelming, with over 1,800 people joining the facebook group and a large turnout expected today.

Hope it was just a peaceful protest!

incredibly peaceful, think crowds at a festival as opposed those we see happening in london at present, was really well organised and controlled, people with inflammetory placards and chants were asked to take them down. it was civil and effective
